Avengers: Age of Ultron - Hawkeye's role and redesign

Fabulous, darling.
With the upcoming titles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now fully announced, it's been made clear we're going to be seeing a lot more than we thought of the characters who didn't get a solo movie. Which ones? Well, you've got the Hulk, Black Widow, Nick Fury...
... Oh, and of course, Hawkeye.
As you probably already know, the acrobatic archer has been promised (and confirmed to have) a much larger role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Well, a bigger one than he had in its predecessor, at least.
What's a hawk star???
What's a hawk star???
So (like or not) we're bound for a lot more of Barton's bow to appear on our screens - which for me, isn't too bad, actually. But what are we going to be seeing him do? And what's he going to look like whilst he's doing it? Well, lucky for you, this article has set out to answer that very question.
So we'll start off simple. The Avengers: Age of Ultron just dropped, and we see our fair share of Agent Clint within it. Here it is, below:

Firstly, if you hadn't seen that already, quit reading now. Just quit.
For those who had, welcome back. Let's look at pretty much the first shot we got in that trailer:
Quick as you like, ladies.
Quick as you like, ladies.
And now skip to a shot of him we actually got in trailer one, and we see this:
(I refuse to include trailer one - you should have seen it already.)
Stealthy...
Stealthy...
So looking at those two we can put a couple of things together...

1. Hawkeye is Still Running Errands

Meh.
Meh.
Indeed. We see him in the first shot ushering people into what seemed like a very official-looking tank - a typical rescue mission from the waste Ultron has laid to the landscape. So essentially, he's still Hawkeye.
He's still an asset, perhaps of the government's, which has interesting implications when it comes to Captain America: Civil War. If you want to check my definitive team guide for that film, hit up my profile!
We know for sure that the Avengers themselves are now a government-approved group, especially with the likes of the former Iron Patriot in their ranks (I hate to keep referencing my own articles, but I've actually got one on War Machine's future & you can check my profile for that too, if you're interested!) Not only that, we also see Cap wearing a uniform with an actual Avengers logo on his shoulder, which suggests that the world's finest are much more, say, official, than they were before.
Lookin' slick there, Stevey.
Lookin' slick there, Stevey.
But back to Hawkeye. I think, from his very much controllable roots (I mean, c'mon, he was literally possessed throughout the last installment) we'll see an independently thinking agent Barton grow - and I think Age of Ultron/Civil War will show the beginnings of this.
The second picture backs up this argument. Notice his more stealth-like, sleeved suit he dons whilst running through snow (a topic for later discussion) - an obvious spy/intel retrieval mission. There's a lot of speculation as to what he's up to in that scene, but I can't confirm anything, as I don't know for sure. The whole "spying mission" premise seems pretty solid to me, though!
Now, about that costume...

2. Is Hawkeye too Getting an Upgrade in the Avengers' next Adventure?

Because... Because yes.
Because... Because yes.
That's right. We've seen Cap's and Stark's new outfits revealed by Hot Toys, we've seen snippets of Black Widow's new skin-tight costume (no complaints) and Hasbro have shown us a possible War Machine Mark II. So what about Barton? Why shouldn't he be allowed an upgrade, too?
Well, I reckon he will. We're yet to see the aforementioned company Hot Toysannounce the archer's latest get-up (perhaps under instruction from Marvel) and I reckon when we do we'll actually see two of them. As in the first picture, perhaps a slightly upgraded sleeveless suit, and then, as in the second picture, a much more stealthy sleeved outfit.
Personally, though we haven't seen a perfect shot of it yet, I'm pretty interested in what his open-armed clothing will look like. I'd love to see Marvel take a slight Batman-like route with Hawkeye and introduce a few extra gadgets that aren't all on the tips of arrows. Perhaps they could make Clint look like the result of a steamy night the Dark Knight & Green Arrow shared...
But who knows? Is Hawkeye destined for big or for small? Is he going to be equipped enough to take on the likes of an army of homicidal robots? I guess we're just gonna have to wait 'til May 1st.
Damnit.
Damnit.
