Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Jack Sparrow's Final Voyage?

With 100% more Orlando Bloom than last time!?
The last installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, On Stranger Tides, probably isn't anyone's favorite Pirates movie. But the fact that it ended up hauling in a box office booty of over a billion dollars world wide practically guaranteed that we'd be seeing at least one more Jack Sparrow adventure.Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is just starting production in Australia and, unlike the last one, number five is beginning to sound like it could be a perfect wrap up to the franchise.

A Cast With Tales to Tell

The past month has seen the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 grow to include Kaya Scodelario (Effy from Skins!) and Brenton Thwaites (a native Australian recently seen in the nifty Occulus) on top of the previously announced Javier Bardem and the returning Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush.
After getting cast in the movie, Brenton Thwaites had some very interesting tales to tell about the upcoming movie's plot...
"It’s about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. There’s a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it’s about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad."
You don't say!

Who Is Davy Jones Again?

So those rumors of Orlando Bloom being brought back into the pirate fold may have more than a bit of truth to them. If you don't remember, and I don't really blame you if you don't, Orlando Bloom's character Will Turner is the one who took over the Flying Dutchman in the finale of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. This effectively made Bloom the new Davy Jones. And at the very end of that film we see the cursed Turner sailing to his wife and son to spend his "one day on land" with his family.
Will Jack Sparrow finally be getting around to help Will Turner get freed from the curse of Davy Jones and reunited with this son? It sure sounds like it. It also sounds like the perfect way to draw a conclusion to this series.
Is it time to say Bon Voyage, Jack?

The Perfect Final Voyage

While On Stranger Tides had its moments - I had some fun with Ian McShane's Blackbeard - it did suffer from meandering way off course from the spirit of the first and best Pirate movie as well as abandoning most the plot and characters from the first three. Any return to its roots will likely be great news to fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
In fact, I'll even go so far as to say that the series may have reached its best and most heartfelt moments in the story of Will Turner, his dad and Davy Jones. Following up on the curse of the Flying Dutchman in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has even this jaded pirate more that a little interested in returning to the sea. What do you think?
