X-Files 3 Rumors! Are Fox Rebooting David Duchovny And Gillian Anderson Series?

Could we see Mulder & Scully return?
Great news, "X-Files" fans! Not only is Fox thinking about rebooting the Chris Carter-led series, it wants to bring back original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
"It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on 'X-Files'," Fox CEO Gary Newman told Entertainment Weekly. "We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point."
Newman's fellow CEO Dana Walden also spoke about the possible reboot.
"Gary and I both worked [at 20th Century Fox Television] through the entire run of 'The X Files'. It was a great experience. We’ve maintained good relationships with Chris, David and Gillian. We’re very hopeful, but it’s hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it’s just trying to carve out the time."
It would be great to see Duchovny and Anderson back together and investigating supernatural crime; however, as EW points out, both actors are keeping busy. Duchovny has "Aquarius" coming up, while Anderson was upped to a series regular on "Hannibal". Then again, "Aquarius" is currently being billed as an "event series," and Anderson's "Hannibal" character might not even survive the upcoming season.
Apart from the obvious success of the "X-Files" series, we have to wonder why Fox wants to reboot the series now of all times. There had been talk of an X-Files 3 movie being in the works — could the studio have an "X-Files" miniseries planned as a lead-in to a sequel?
