Sorry, but the reported inclusion of Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" is, in the long run, a huge mistake for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
First, it diminishes Captain America! The name of the film is "Captain America: Civil War", NOT "Avengers: Civil War". Chris Evans' Captain America has seen an upward trajectory in popularity with the masses from his first film, through "Avengers" to the surprisingly robust box-office for "Captain America: Winter Soldier".
In the past six months, Cap's third solo outing has morphed from what looked to be an interesting and exciting showdown with his friend Bucky to having to basically share top-billing with Robert Downey, Jr.'s Iron Man in his own film to now also sharing screen time with ScarJo's Black Widow, Cap-centric character Falcon..NOW you want to add Spider-Man?
Second, the people who think adding Spidey to this already overstuffed film - aren't these the same people who complain films like "Spider-man 3" failed because they have too many characters? Seriously, how is SOMEONE not going to get short shrift here? Captain America risks being an afterthought in his own movie. After moving to have a greater role in "Captain America: Civil War", even Robery Downey, Jr.'s Iron Man, one of the two main antagonists, risks having his role diminished as well.
What about Bucky Barnes? Or the Falcon? Or a certain other character..
Third, Marvel risks making Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther less important - which would give less of a bounce to his upcoming solo film.Seriously, it was Chadwick Boseman who electrified fans by walking in between Chris Evans and Robert Downey, Jr. four short months ago. He was supposedly going to fill the Spider-man role. Now that Spider-Man is available, Marvel risks making the character far less important, which can only hurt him in future films.
Fourth, Kevin Feige has explained that superhero do not exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what is the point of having Spider-Man in the film in the first place? The film will be more about world governments demanding accountability and oversight of superheroes instead of them forcibly revealing their true identity to the authorities.
So, without the "big unmasking" from the comics, what is the purpose of having Spider-Man in this film again? Without his friendship with Stark? Without anyone in the MCU knowing who he is?

Spider-Man is coming to the MCU! Spider-Man will appear in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film! Which film that is has yet to be announced, but I'd put my money on Captain America: Civil War!
Afterwards, Sony Pictures will release the next installment of the Amazing Spider-Man franchise on July 28th, 2017 with Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal co-producing!
FREAKING OUT MAN!!!!
Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films. Basically, this means that Marvel will be able to have Spider-Man in their films, but almost ALL of the credit goes to Sony; something I am completely okay with!
Not only will Spidey be able to show up in Captain America's films if he wants, the heroes of the MCU might also be able to show up in Amazing Spider-Manfilms! Yes! JUST YES!
According to the Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger:
"Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world. We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."
Finally! Two huge companies working together, instead of trying to bring each other down! If you think about it, this is some huge Civil War foreshadowing. Think of Sony and Marvel as the two sides. Spidey brought them together and ended the war, making a much better ending than the actual Civil War storyline's!

No word on who will play Spidey, but I'm hoping they keep Andrew Garfield. If not, I have faith in both Sony and Marvel to cast the best person for the job!
Comic-Con International 2014 is officially over and we escaped with an underwhelming number of surprise announcements when compared to expectations leading up to this year’s event. Coming into the San Diego event, Marvel Studios had scheduled new six unannounced films in addition to a few the studio still hadn’t titled from previously.
When we spoke to Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige on Saturday morning, there were nine unannounced projects with release dates in 2016-19. We knew (and still know) one of those is for the untitled Captain America 3 coming May 2016. With so many other dates set, we expected to learn about a bunch of them during the Marvel Studios panel at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con and theorized on the possibility that Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have quite a few more films than Phase 2 – assuming that their May 2019 date could be for The Avengers 3.
Hours before that panel though, I asked Feige for some background on why Marvel added a third date to 2018 (giving them three in a year for two years in a row) a few days after announcing five other new ones. He wouldn’t offer any hints on how many of the releases we could see unveiled later that day (only one as it turns out - Guardians of the Galaxy 2) but did explain the push to three in 2018.
“The last one was just a scheduling thing. There were other studios that were moving their chess pieces around on their chessboard, which is why that had been in the works, which is why that other 2018 date came up a few days after the initial release.”
The scheduling “thing” is of course the release dates for Sinister Six and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 that Sony announced during Comic-Con. They had pulled their Spider-Man release that year from May which left it open for Marvel Studios to immediately take, and so they did. May 2018 is exactly three years after The Avengers: Age of Ultron will release, which is three years after the first Avengers so we wondered how that may affect when they were planning to release the third team-up.
“We haven’t really talked about when we’ll see Avengers 3. I presume we’d like to stick to three years between Avengers movies like we did…Oh, No, it was two years, wasn’t it? What was it? Yeah, yeah. So it’d probably be three years about Avengers 2 and 3.”
If that’s the case, Phase 3 of the MCU is going to be three releases shorter assuming it takes the most obvious date of May 4, 2018 and so the three films scheduled after that are probably the beginning of Phase 4. A few contracts for the core Avengers reportedly end with The Avengers 3, so that’s going to be a major transition point for The Avengers roster.

In a year with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Mad Max: Fury Road, and more, The Avengers: Age of Ultron has competition for most anticipated movie of the year – but it’s undoubtedly the most anticipated superhero movie of the year (sorry, Ant-Man and Fantastic Four). The followup to Joss Whedon’s insanely popular The Avengers will see the titular team battling Ultron, a psychotic robot with the voice of James Spader (The Blacklist).
[SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT]
The Beginning of ‘Age of Ultron’ & New Relationships

Avengers producer Jeremy Latcham talked about the team’s status at the beginning of the film, saying:
'This movie starts off and the team is together, on a mission, they’re working in tandem, and there are new relationships between them. Time has passed, so you pick up right in the middle of an action sequence and start trying to catch up.”
The action sequence likely involves the defeat of Baron von Strucker, which will apparently lead to the Avengers party from the trailers that depicts various Avengers attempting to pick up Thor’s hammer. This is the point of the story when everything seems to be going well for the team – they’re working well together, they’re happy, they’re successful. Obviously, this won’t last for long once Ultron does his thing.

Latcham continued:
“I think [it's] fun for an audience to try and figure out, ‘Wait, those two are funny together now, there’s something going on with them, maybe there’s a little tension over there.’ You’re showing up at a party when it’s already a little bit started.”
It seems that the two characters with “tension” are likely Bruce Banner and Black Widow. There have been hints in the trailers that they have something of a connection, but it’s yet unclear if that connection is romantic in nature.
Said Joss Whedon about them:
“They’re an unlikely pair, but there’s something about the two of them that neither can deny.”
Sounds kind of romantic to us.

Joss Whedon’s Favorite Character Is Black Widow

It’s probably no surprise that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is Joss Whedon’s favorite character. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Firefly to Dollhouse to his work on Astonishing X-Men, Whedon tends to to be particularly fond of the female characters in his stories.
Said Whedon:
“[Black Widow] has a special place in my heart – there is one scene in each movie that was filmed pretty much unchanged from the first draft, and they’re both Natasha scenes. She’s just somebody that I feel like I get.”
Before Whedon wrote Black Widow in The Avengers, she was a pretty one-dimensional, uninteresting character in Iron Man 2. Most would agree that it was Whedon’s depiction of Widow that made her the popular character she is today, with fans all over clamoring for a standalone film.

How ‘Age of Ultron’ Will Lead to ‘Captain America: Civil War’

In the wake of Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and the dissolution of SHIELD – the Avengers are basically leaderless. While this is seemingly not a problem at the beginning of Age of Ultron, it’ll definitely become one during the film’s running time.
Jeremy Letchum said:
“SHIELD has fallen apart, so this movie becomes Tony Stark and Steve Rogers trying to put the Avengers together without a parental unit like Nick Fury hovering over them. What you realize is that these are guys who work best with rules, and probably do need some adult supervision.”
Both Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are stubborn, strong-willed individuals, and otherwise very different personality-wise. Needless to say, that sort of combination can lead to some conflict, and it might very well be (part of) the impetus for Captain America: Civil War.
Said Letchum:
“Tony has been paying for everything, designing stuff, building new toys, he’s the benefactor of the whole thing. But Steve Rogers is very much in charge of operations and missions, he’s the moral compass. But how long can Tony Stark have someone else be in charge?”
Probably not very long. It’ll be interesting to see what else will come to cause the Civil War besides personality differences. (After all, that’d be a pretty petty war.) Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t hinge upon secret identities like the comic books do – and the Civil War of the comic books did – what will be at the heart of the film’s conflict?

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Is a Mish-Mash of Genres

The Marvel movies are known for having similar structures, styles, tones, and general “feels,” though they do occasionally fit into pre-established genres in addition to the amorphous “superhero genre.” The First Avengers was sort of a war movie, Winter Soldier was sort of a ’70s spy thriller, Guardians of the Galaxy was sort of a space opera, and so on.
But what, pray tell, is The Avengers: Age of Ultron? According to Whedon, it’s kind of a whole bunch of genres mixed together:
“With the first [Avengers], I set out to make a war movie. This time I said to Marvel, ‘I really want to make more of a science-fiction horror.’ But then in the first week I was like ‘This is clearly a western.’ “Then it became a war movie again, then, ‘Oh no, it’s a romantic comedy, a 1940s romantic comedy… No, it’s Ibsen! No, okay, it’s definitely an adventure. It’s an action comedy!’
“I suppose if it’s gonna get put in a category, it has got some science fiction in it, but for me, it’s just everything. And hopefully that doesn’t come out as ADD, but as what happens when you put these different people together, you get that kind of weird dissonance with their different worlds and styles, and you hopefully make music out of it, instead of a horrible cacophony.”
Considering Whedon has plenty of experience mixing and matching genres – every single project he’s ever worked on has done this – we can’t imagine Avengers 2 will make “a horrible cacophony” out of it.
The Reason Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Fight The Avengers

Elizabeth Olsen – who plays Scarlet Witch in Age of Ultron – explained why she and her brother Quicksilver join an evil talking robot to take on The Avengers.
Said Olsen:
“Our characters have a lot of anger, especially towards Tony Stark, and we want revenge. We meet Ultron, and he’s someone who preaches peace and… believes what we believe, which is that the Avengers create destruction and that Tony Stark’s bomb is responsible for killing our parents.”
Tony Stark’s bomb? Is this a bomb he created in his past life as a weapons manufacturer (as portrayed in the original Iron Man movie)?

The Difference Between Hawkeye in ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Age of Ultron’

Jeremy Renner sort of famously didn’t love his work on The Avengers, mostly because he was relegated to being hypnotized by Loki for more than half the film. We’ve known for a while now that that would change for the sequel, and Joss Whedon backs that up here.
Said Whedon:
“We got to do some interesting stuff with Hawkeye which is a different kind of dark. It’s been fun for Jeremy because he was possessed for so long last time – it’s interesting to not be a zombie!”
Not only will Hawkeye “not be a zombie” in the film, but he’ll also get some really nifty sleeves to keep him warm. So it’s good news all around for Jeremy Renner.
Joss Whedon Is Done Making ‘Avengers’ Movies

For the umpteenth time now, Joss Whedon is making it clear that he has no intention of returning to make more Avengers films. Not for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 or 2, not for a hypothetical Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy crossover, not for anything.
Said Whedon on the subject:
“I cannot imagine directing a film with – if you’ll pardon the expression – more f**king people in it. I’d love to see one, though.”
Don’t be too sad, Whedon fans, this is potentially very good news. After Whedon takes a much deserved break from directing massive blockbuster movies, he’ll be able to use his Avengers clout to create something brand-new on a much larger scale than his previous projects. That’s something we should all be excited for.

Just a couple months after it was announced Daniel Bruhl had been cast as a villain in "Captain America: Civil War", it was revealed that villain is none other than Baron Zemo.
So, what do we know about Captain America 3's Zemo? Well, for starters, there are actually two Baron Zemo's in the Marvel universe. The first, Baron Heinrich Zemo, made his debut in "The Avengers #4", as part of a flashback. The second, his son Baron Helmut Zemo, first appeared in "Captain America #168".
It's unclear which incarnation of Zemo Bruhl will be playing in Captain America 3, but we're thinking it'll be Helmut. Though he doesn't appear within the "Civil War" storyline, he is part of the following arc. After the events of "Civil War", Iron Man asked Zemo to start recruiting villains (something he'd already started doing), but Zemo decides to help Captain America instead.

One of Helmut Zemo's distinguishing features is his badly disfigured face (which he earned prior to the events of "Civil War"). Following the accidental death of his father — for which he blamed Cap — Helmut sought revenge. During the ensuing battle, he fell into a boiling vat of Adhesive X, the extra-strength bonding material created by Heinrich.
Like his father before him, Helmut grew up supporting the idea of a Master Race ruling the world — something that obviously would put him in direct conflict with someone like Cap.
In 2016 when Captain America comes out the Falcon would be better than the first.
While promoting his new movie Black and White he confessed that the Falcon Suit for Captain America: Civil War has been improved on a lot.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier didn't really have much of him expand on the suits except for the goggles and the WWII look. In the movies it will be expanded by the great Iron Man himself (A.K.A. Tony Stark).
He also talked about getting the role of Cap himself and this is what he had say.
"Well, you know there are many incarnations in the comic book, and we are now going into the Civil War. So, if you look at it in the comic book, Cap gives Bucky the shield, Bucky gives it back to Cap, Cap gives it to [Sam Wilson]. Then Bucky goes off and marries Black Widow, so I keep the shield... give it back to Cap, and recently Cap wanted to be old, so he gave me the shield back and now I got the Shield; I'm not giving it back."
He is also rumored to give a cameo in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Good or evil? Right or wrong? Just or unfair? These are but a few questions that our favorite cinematic superheroes will have to come up with an answer to in the upcoming third Captain America film - Civil War. I'm sure if you're reading this, you have a vague idea of the plot already - but for those who don't...
After a disaster caused by a small group of rowdy and uncontrollable superheroes, the government calls for all super soldiers, tin men and sorcerers to be officially registered into an American database, so that the world may live to be a safer place. Long story short, Iron Man agrees with this and Captain America, uh, doesn't... and they fight. A lot, actually. And the Marvel community is pretty much torn in half as friends turn on each other, siding with either Mr Stark or the rebellious Steve Rogers.
But who's going to be siding with who? What's going to be siding with what? As promised, I present to you (after a substantial amount of poring through a lotof fan speculation) the definitive list of Cap's cronies and and Stark's supporters.
Team One: Iron Man (Pro Registration)
Aside from Stark himself, who's going to be joining the USA in the hunt for official justice? Well - here are my conclusions:
War Machine
Show time.
Well, Sergeant James Rhodes to be exact. As a longstanding friend of Tony's and as an already registered member of the american government I don't see that there is any way that War Machine can head anywhere else.
There is speculation that War Machine will die in the soon to be releasedAvengers: Age of Ultron, but the majority of fan hypothesizing has realized the most likely to not see the sequel's credits roll will be Maria Hill, and that is why (despite her fundamental role in the graphic novel) she will not be included in this list.

That's right, I believe that (primarily) Bruce Banner will be a large part of Iron Man's squad. Despite their advertised, 'falling out', shall we say... I think it's a pretty safe bet to call Tony and Bruce good friends. It is speculated that in Age of Ultron, the Hulk will become possessed by the Scarlet Witch and attempt to kill the metal warrior - so by the time Civil War comes around, even the Hulkmay feel that he owes our favorite can opener a favor.
Recently released by FunkoPOP! toys was this collection of Age of Ultron bobble heads - labeling a grey "savage hulk." For those who don't know Banner's origins, he began as a large grey beast who was actually colored green due to a misprint at Marvel. His ability to change color was explained by Marvel by stating that he could become a variety of different monsters. Perhaps we shall see the movies explore this idea, in which case, well... read on.
The Vision & Thor

Despite being confirmed as not being J.A.R.V.I.S., I believe The Vision and Thor will be loyal to Mr Stark in Captain America's next film - for similar reasons. Not only can vision accurately predict the future, but he is an artificial intelligence designed for justice. With a mix of those talents, I believe (though not much has been spoken of his cinematic version) he will know which side to choose and why he has chosen it.
Similarly, I believe the Asgardian should-be-king shall be in favor of registration as he has been exposed to a... hmph... noble upbringing. As he has been taught order all his life, I believe he will not know its success via the happiness of his people. In the comics, a clone of his being was used to Stark's favor, and seeing as it is a main part in the story line, and that most characters from the graphic novel have not been cast or introduced yet, I feel Marvel will be squeezing every last possible drop out of their current cinematic standing.

Black Widow

This is a tough one to call - I'm expecting a lot of possible comments disagreeing with me on this. In Cap's last solo adventure, we saw the two forging a pretty close friendship (hey, she was his first kiss since 1945.) They spent the majority of the movie fighting side by side, and it shows that Ms Romanoff isn't scared to fight for what's right.
However...
She has always been an asset of the american government, like Hawkeye. I think that she will be a large part of the Civil War production due to this; she will be symbolic of the inner turmoil it causes in Earth's mightiest. Last we saw her, she had disappeared in order to wipe her slate clean...
And I think her participation in the law's bidding will confirm her as an official "good guy." We see also in Avengers Assemble that she is determined to become a decent human being (through her conversation with Loki), and maybe, just maybe - the war to end all superhero wars will be the turning point.
I do have some controversial ideas about our forward-thinking killer though - so read on...
Ant Man
"Is it too late to change the name?"
The Scott Lang incarnation of the Ant-Man will be a different version to the Yellowjacket Hank Pym we see in the graphic novel. At the minute, all we have is trailer analysis to go on - but it seems fairly set that Scott's motive for fighting is keeping his daughter safe.
Personally, I don't see him following those morals in Civil War unless he sides with the government claiming to make America a safer place for all.
Team Two: Captain America (anti-registration)
So - other than our favorite patriot - who's going to be rebelling against the law?
Falcon
"Am I Iron Man yet?"
Well, duh! Possibly the coolest guy ever to fly (aside from Stark, obviously) is inevitably going to be siding with his long-standing (in the comics and films) friend, Steve Rogers. They both served together in the Winter Soldier, and throughout that film we saw a strong sense of 'bromance' made visible between the two. I think his role in the movie will be larger than that of his in the graphic novel - as he didn't actually do much on the pages.
Excitingly, it's also been confirmed we're going to see a newly kitted out Falcon in 2016's largest superhero event! Anthony Mackie, who plays the metal bird, spoke to Hollywood Chicago, and whilst not promising anything, he did say this:
The new Falcon suit is gonna be much better than the old Falcon suit. … You gotta rebuild.
And that, of course, means two things:
1. That's a great premise for a new article.
2. We might be seeing a more loyal-to-the-comics Sam Wilson than before.
And, in case that doesn't excite you, this is what a comic-like version of him might well look like:
Get me this for Christmas.
Honestly, I cant wait to see Sam here fly straight back onto our screens for the second time.
Nick Fury
Samuel L. Jackson is just...
So, after being nearly killed by his employing company and watching his job disappear, Nick Fury is now not so tied to the law. Again, in Mr Roger's latest film we saw a friendship made between Nick & Steve. Steve is (you'll know if you've seen the Winter Soldier) one of the only men that Mr Fury trusts.
In the graphic novel, Nick Fury is in pretty much the same position we saw him left in on the screens last. That is to say, he's off the grid. I don't know what he's tied to in the upcoming Avengers film, but I don't think it will change the fact that Nick here has officially gone underground.
Also in the novel, he lends one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top secret hideouts for the rebels to make their headquarters. However loyal or not loyal to the book the film may be, I think we'll see Nick helping the hero out of of time out on this one. I personally wouldn't say he's too fond of the law after it tried to put a bullet in his chest, really.
What the-?
Hawkeye
Hey guys, check it out, Hawkeye actually looks cool
This was also a tough one to decide on. After Avengers, Hawkeye I think has become a freedom fighter. He is technically already a government asset, but will fight for the freedom of others, after Loki crawled around in his head and made him believe that freedom is "life's great lie."
So far, not many rumors have been spread about Hawkeye in thee cinematic Civil War - nor have any confirmations about his role been made. My opinion may well change after seeing Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which we know for sure he has been promised a much bigger role than previously...

Black Panther
HYPE!!!
WHOOOO!!! Yeah - it's been officially announced (if you didn't already know) that Black Panther will be making his big screen debut on May 6, 2016 inCaptain America: Civil War.
Following the book, the Black Panther's heart always lay with Captain America - he sees Iron Man's side as ignorant and controlling. I reckon, whilst knowing little, Chadwick Boseman's character will stick to his replica in the comics, in terms of the fact that he will have strong morals.
When asked about his role, Boseman said:
We're preparing for that (Civil War) right now as well; (I'm) just sort of beginning the workout for that.
So he hasn't actually been told much about the role himself - he's really only just started the whole process, and I mean only just. He has the movie A Message for a King coming out before Cap 3, and is currently doing prep work for that.
Black Widow (well, kinda...)
Surprise, dummy.
C'mon! Agent Romanoff's job title itself is a spy! I reckon we'll see the aforementioned friendship between her and Stevey stand strong throughout Phase 3.
However, I don't think Black Widow will be publicly known as being part of the rebels. We (the viewers) will of course know, but I doubt that the government will. her very existence in this film (I believe) has been set up to be a large metaphor for both types of conflict the war will cause - those on the battlefield...
... and those in your head.
I think her secret involvement in Cap's doings will influence Hawkeye to join the insurgents. We have seen he possesses a fatherly type of love for her, and like with Captain America, I see Natasha and Agent Barton keeping close to each other throughout Phase 3 too.
Team 3: Neither Side (neutral)
BRO HUG
There are a couple of people we're not going to be seeing making an appearance, or being neutral during the film. Here's who I think are gonna be sitting on the fence:
The Maximoff Twins

I don't personally believe Scarlet Witch nor Quicksilver is going to be making a decision on which side to pick. Honestly, I just don't know enough about them. A lot about their upcoming roles in the next Avengers installment is merely speculation. I think these two are still going to be pretty mentally unstable after their enslavement by an AI - and so will need some time to rest.
If I had to place bets, I would vouch for them working with Iron Man. After seeing what chaos can do, I reckon they'll want to stick to order for a while. I also feel like Iron Man will be more of a mentor to them than Cap.
Savage Hulk
Roar.
I think a big scene in Civil War will be a battle in which the Hulk turns on everyone in his grey form... pretty similar to what's expected to happen in Age of Ultron. I think Marvel may want to reinforce Banner's lack of control, as it could be a very cliche but promising premise for a Phase 4 Hulk solo movie. This along with info already given, I believe, stacks up pretty nicely.
