Brad Bird's 2004 action-comedy, The Incredibles, blew me away when I first saw it on the big screen, and is no doubt one of Pixar's finest movies to date!
Like many of the studio's films, it's packed full of hidden easter eggs, subtle references and downright insane bits of trivia. If you love it as much as I do, then you owe it to yourself to check out the eight incredible facts everyIncredibles fan needs to know!
1. Mr. Incredible's voice took years to record
Jason Lee, who plays the super-villain Syndrome, recorded all his dialogue in four days, whereas Craig T. Nelson, who plays Mr. Incredible, took two years!
2. The film's translations are hilarious
In the Singaporean version of the movie, Mr. Incredible's company 'Insuricare' is translated as 'Black-hearted insurance company' when read literally. I guess it's accurate enough!
3. The trailer never made it into the movie
The original trailer for The Incredibles was produced 18 months prior to the movie's release, but none of the animation was used in the final film.
4. Mr. Incredible sings the movie's theme song
When Bob Parr comes home after the burning building scene, you can hear him humming the movie's theme tune. How meta!
5. Dash's voice actor had to actually sprint around when recording dialogue
In order to add another layer of realism, director Brad Bird made Spencer Fox run laps around the recording studio, to make sure he was really out of breath!
6. It's the first Pixar movie to not feature the iconic Pizza Planet truck
Fans claim to have spotted the Toy Story easter egg, but so far no confirmed sighting of the truck has been validated. Have you spotted it?
7. Brad Bird never meant to voice Edna
The director initially asked Lily Tomlin to voice the part of the eccentric costume designer, Edna Mode. However, Tomlin turned it down after hearing Bird's test voice, saying "What do you need me for? You got it already."
8. Toy Story characters appear briefly in the movie
If you look closely at Bob's home office, you can spot the Rock 'em Sock 'em robots from Toy Story 2 on the far left of the middle shelf.
