War Machine to get a redesign in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron?

Fan art of possible War Machine redesign.
As we've seen in past MCU movies, it seems that most characters tend to upgrade and further personalize their appearance with each cinematic installment. For some superheroes, like Captain America (who even reverts back to his old costume at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier) this seems a cool but nonetheless pointless happening. However - with the unstable and ever-evolving mind of Tony Stark - it makes sense for the two men of iron who are to appear in the ever-anticipated sequel to get rebuilt.
Specifically, Rhodey here:
Don Cheadle as "Iron Patriot", Iron man 3.
Don Cheadle as "Iron Patriot", Iron man 3.
Where we last left off, James Rhodes had flown off wearing the Iron Patriot armor at the end of Iron Man 3. Upon the announcement he would be involved in Avengers 2, we were also told he would be appearing under the name "War Machine" - his alias from the dissapointing Iron Man 2 film (the sergeant even admits War Machine is a cooler name than Iron Patriot.)
So, seeing as the general public and Marvel both realised we didn't need a metal Captain America, they have decided to change him back to a standard color scheme, as we can see from the armor's arm in this picture:
"Are we even on the same team here?"
"Are we even on the same team here?"
That very picture stems from the trailer of the next Avengers' adventure. if you haven't (for any reason) seen trailer number two for the film, here it is, below:
(You better have a damn good reason for not having seen it yet...)

With the mix of the two trailers (I'm not going to include the first because if you haven't seen that you have no claim to liking superheroes) we have amassed a decent amount of footage. There is this "table party" scene, from the extended version trailer one:
Even the Avengers need a drink...
Even the Avengers need a drink...
This is believed (and pretty much confirmed) to be the moment before Ultron makes himself known and launches an array of "Avenger robots", as they are being called, at the world's finest. This is also the scene in which Stark & Rhodes attempt to lift Thor's hammer.
Nothing like an army of homicidal AIs, huh?
Nothing like an army of homicidal AIs, huh?
So, fast forward to after the battle, and we are treated to this much gloomier shot:
Time for a re-think, Tony.
Time for a re-think, Tony.
And check the background. Rhodey is clutching his arm (admittedly, if you watch the trailer, there is a more obvious shot) which he had used to don the armor's hand in an attempt to lift Mjolnir.
So it would seem like the robots targeted and successfully destroyed a main piece of the War Machine armor, as it would have been on of the only weapons in the room against them - all the other avengers are still wearing the same clothes as in the table party scene.
So, this can mean one of two things...

1. War Machine will not play a large role in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron

Yep. Unfortunately, this is one conclusion. If Ultron's mini army up there didtake out a fundamental piece of the iron tank, then it's possible that War Machine will only play a very minor role in the movie as his whole "super-power" will have been rendered inert. We know that this happens early on in the movie as Ultron is still in his basic form.
I'm sorry about that, James.
I'm sorry about that, James.
However...

2. War Machine is going to get a badass redesign in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron

Yeah, not all is to despair just yet. Tony Stark is of course... well... Tony Stark - and he should be more than capable of fixing up the Sergeant's suit. The toy company Hasbro has given us a blink of what the re-modelling might look like.
Definitely not Spider-Man's bike there...
Definitely not Spider-Man's bike there...
Seeing as the attack in which his arm might get destroyed is pretty early on in the film, I wouldn't expect whatever scene the toys represent to have happened already. I doubt we will have seen him fully kitted up prior to the build-up stage of the movie.
And guess what that's gotta mean? We're going to see a better, more powerful Iron Patriot!
Oh, snap.
Oh, snap.
If I'm right about all this - I can't express how much I'm going to love the next Marvel film. The two Iron Warriors have always been favorites of mine - so seeing them both climb into upgraded versions of their past selves would be beyond fantastic.
So, taking it all into account - what do you guys think? I'm all down for the rebuild of the armor! Think I'm wrong? Have your say in the comments!
